Animal Assisted Therapy often called Pet Therapy, involves interactions between individuals and animal (pygmy goats) to help improve physical, emotional, or cognitive health and well-being. Animals are used in therapy sessions to provide comfort, companionship, and support to individuals who may be struggling with mental health issues, physical disabilities, or other challenges. AAT has been shown to have a number of benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood and overall emotional well-being, and enhancing communication and social skills.
Kamioka et al. (2014) documented the benefits of AAT where researchers reviewed 69 studies on the effects of AAT on various health outcomes, including mental health, physical health, and overall well-being. The results of the review showed that AAT was effective in improving a range of health outcomes, including anxiety, depression, and quality of life. The researchers concluded that AAT can be a valuable complementary therapy for a wide range of health conditions.
Swan Valley Goat Therapy is located at Chevre Park in Henley Brook, where our breeding herd of Pygmy Goats reside. Our service encompasses education sessions on goat handling, care, and husbandry practices for new goat owners and general enthusiasts.
Our herd size fluctuates between 25 to 40 goats, and they are on 8 acres which is divided into 5 paddocks.
By bringing therapy animals to these locations, we aim to provide comfort, support, and joy to individuals in need, and to generate positive outcomes in their overall health and quality of life. Our team is dedicated to promoting the benefits of animal-assisted interventions and making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

I absolutely adore Chevrè Park!
Tanya is so welcoming and always happy to share her knowledge and goat-handling expertise and the cute little Pygmy goats are such a delight - always inquisitive and happy to interact with humans.
The time I spend at Chevrè Park with Tanya and her gorgeous goats helps me enormously .. my anxiety and stress about my stage four breast cancer just melts away.
It really is magical!
